For over 20 years, I’ve worked as an SEO expert and specialist — in the industry since 2004, running full site audits since 2006. Along the way I’ve pulled real businesses back from Google penalties, and worked on sites for large restaurant chains and multi-million-visitor properties.

How it started

I got into this back when SEO forums still let you argue directly with people like Sergey Brin — yes, that Brin — and Artemy Lebedev, a designer linked straight from Yandex’s own homepage (Russia’s dominant search engine — think “linked from Google’s homepage”) who also runs a serious SEO firm. I went head-to-head against that firm more than once. And won every time.

The lesson that still shapes everything I do

At one SEO contest, a single smiley face on Lebedev’s own blog page started outranking sites professionally optimized by the top SEO firms of the era. It caused a real scandal — and forced a hard rethink of what actually drives rankings. Real signals beat assumptions, every time. That’s the whole philosophy behind WebEmergency.
