This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use webemergency.ca and our website-audit services (the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

When you request an audit, we may collect:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the website URL or domain you submit;
  • your consent preferences and related records, such as the date, time, and version of the consent notice, and confirmation of your double opt-in email;
  • correspondence you send to us; and
  • technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and security or abuse-prevention logs.

To create an audit, we may collect and analyse publicly accessible technical information from the submitted website, including page titles, headings, metadata, links, sitemaps, robots.txt, performance data, and other publicly available SEO signals.

If you voluntarily provide website analytics data, such as Google Analytics data, we will use it only to prepare or explain your requested audit. Do not send us passwords, payment-card data, government identification, or other information that is not needed for the audit.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide, deliver, and support the audit you request;
  • verify that the request is legitimate and prevent abuse, fraud, or excessive automated requests;
  • improve and maintain the Service;
  • respond to privacy, legal, support, and deletion requests;
  • comply with legal obligations; and
  • send follow-up messages about your audit and related offers, where you have confirmed your request as described in Section 3.

We do not sell personal information.

3. Email Communications and Your Choices

When you submit an audit request, we send a confirmation email asking you to verify your email address (a “double opt-in” step). Clicking the confirmation link in that email verifies your request and establishes your consent, under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), to receive your audit report and related follow-up communications — including occasional offers for a paid Full Audit. If you do not click to confirm, we do not send further audit or marketing emails to that address.

You may unsubscribe from further emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email, or by contacting privacy@webemergency.ca. We will process unsubscribe requests promptly and within the timeframe required by law.

4. Service Providers and International Processing

5. Cookies and Website Analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies for security, website functionality, and abuse prevention.

We also use Google Analytics (via the Site Kit by Google plugin) to understand how visitors use this website — for example, which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and which site referred them. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, and browsing activity on this Site. This information is processed by Google in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings to block third-party cookies.

We also use RankMath SEO, Google Search Console, and Bing Webmaster Tools to manage how this Site appears in search results. These tools help us understand search performance and do not place tracking cookies on your device.

6. Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including delivering the audit, handling follow-up requests, resolving disputes, meeting legal obligations, and maintaining security records.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and measures designed to limit unauthorized access. No online system can be completely secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Privacy Requests

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or withdraw consent for future communications.

To make a request, email privacy@webemergency.ca. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Website-Audit Data

You must have the right to submit a website or analytics data for audit. We do not intentionally access password-protected pages, administration panels, private networks, or other non-public areas. We may decline, limit, or stop an audit where we reasonably believe it could create a security, legal, or operational risk.

10. Children

The Service is intended for business users and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date identifies the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated by email.
